Cornstarch is a substance which has a solid state of matter. Water is a substance which has a liquid state of matter and mixing these two substances creates a colloid which has a combination of 2-3 states of matter.
Materials:
50mls Cornstarch
15mls Water
Knife
Container
Method:
- In a shallow clear container add the cornstarch
- Add the water bit by bit and stir while doing the process.
- Once done, experiment on this solution and see the changes from the state of matter.
The reaction between the substance of cornflour and water mixed together created a solution that has the ability to have strong viscosity when strong pressure is applied to the colloid and as when you apply a gentle pressure to the liquid it instantly forms its state to a liquid.
